Who says OL doesn’t eat?

10 Nov

OL = Office Lady.

dayever = works in office but not a lady, no matter who might argue (oh, I can think of at least one person, maybe he’s just being polite. Hah!).

7.00 : Enjoys a cup of coffee (instant coffee, regrettably).

8.30 (plus minus) : Reach workplace.

9.00 : Have my breakfast – sandwiches, hotdogs, bread, whatever that’s in my bentobox.

11.00 : Munches on biscuit.

12.30 : Lunchtime. Where-ever and whatever that satisfy our cravings and hunger. And time management.

Pasta and Orange juice from DOME… when there’s no time.
And no Korean instant noodle left…

15.00 : Tidbits.

17.00 : Tidbits.

19.00 : Biscuits.

21.00 : Dinner

23.30 : Sleep

I think I’m gaining weight. O_o

My snacks that I’m bringing to work! Probably last for 2 weeks.

3 May

Just dropping a note here to motivate myself back to blogging.

Working with the people I like is fun! I’m almost sorry when I realised how fast time past by.
Seriously. When I’m working with this group of people, I look forward to another day with them, no matter how tired I am. And just the thought of leaving makes me a little sad.

I got tired of how laggy my restaurant city is, and decided to clean up my computer’s hard disk a little – hoping that it might ease the problem. Whilst cleaning, I played all sorts of random songs; some are recordings of my horrible playing on zhongruan (which I deleted); summer kite (which I kept); Linkin park’s In the End (which I mumbled along; hey, I remembered most of the lyrics!); 5566′s Boyfriend (which no longer makes my hair stand); Selena’s Dreaming of you (which is still one of my favourite songs)…

I’m not someone who really knows much about music, singing and stuff. I know some of my taste makes my friends snigger, snort, faint or simply can’t believe what their ears are hearing. :D I’m not someone who could find a song that describes every mood I’m feeling, or songs that could bring back every cherished moments. Neither do I believe this ‘theory’ much; but every once in a blue moon, I find a song that does bring back memories,  not because of the lyrics, but of the number of times I spent listening to it at that particular period. For example, Emma Bunton’s What took you So Long brings me right back to the time I lived in Tampines Blk 819. Just listening to that song could bring the image of the house to my mind, and the memorable times that happened in that house, and the nights I spent talking on MSN and ICQ.

Those were the times when I thought my world revolves just around one person. Then it was another. And yet another.

Years past, and still I am this way.

Your Dress Personality: Cool
Your Personality

You give people the cool and chic impression. You’re strong-willed and independent, and you’ve got character – you know exactly what you want in life and you’re all out to conquer. Because of your cool exterior, men tend to feel intimidated by your femme fatale looks.

Your Dress Style

Your dressing is simple but sometimes edgy, giving people a glimpse of your rebellious nature. But more often than not, you’re geared in basic casuals (mostly blacks and neutrals). With your no-nonsense attitude towards fashion and hype, you don’t care two hoots about the latest trends or hottest fad. Way to go, girl!

Haha, my weird² dressing style. It is actually mostly WHITES.

Sometimes, I think I’m a really horrible person. Please, don’t fall over yourself to agree with the previous sentence.

My attention span is like… very short. If you ask me, I think I’m a attentive and relatively sensitive person. But that happens only when I’m face to face with you; and it lasts for how-long-one-takes-to-finish-a-meal. Or longer, if you give me some time alone to get my energy level back up.

There were so many things I hated before.
Being touched, especially by guys.
Making small talk.
Cigarette smoke.
Racism.

Not that I like it now.
But I guess I somewhat tolerate it – selective people.
Disturbing others and being cheeky.
And I don’t breathe as much.
And I have became racist.

Have you been to 18 Chefs?

I think it rocks. Are we visiting there once every week? If we are going there this week, it will be our 4th time! Let’s try everything on the menu (something new each visit)! So far, I think the cheese baked pasta with red and white sauce, mango sauce and spicy tomato rocks. Funky 18 strawberries (?) is awesome. Banana split was not as awesome. We’ll give the cheese fries a miss.

Why do I have the urge to work?!

I think it’s because… :)

Gim Ann, Jas and I had our ‘debut’ performance last Friday, 15 February. Cello and Zhong Ruan. Amber and Yvonne were merrily beating away on the drums. It was pretty fun and the performance was way better than our first stage performance during Mid-autumn festival.

Perhaps it was because I was not playing something loud (i.e. percussion). Most likely that it was an off-stage performance helps. Hey, you can’t have stage fright when you’re not on the stage right? ;D Besides, I was too busy gazing at the scores and the surroundings, pretending to play a little to care much about the audience. They said a minister was there, but during that time, I was really looking at the scores and playing. Whee~

Nice of the school kids to come down and make noise together with us too. :D We really seemed to have an addiction to the airport, even to the extent of going there for supper. Strips are for the weak and the lazy! *laughs*

Had a couple hours of last-minuting to whip up a birthday card for Petite Sapphire (I wonder who is that?).

PS Birthday card

Watched Sweeney Todd. Nice movie, lovely songs, good emotions and put me off pies for a while and made me reluctant to leave my neck exposed. Gahhhh….

Wandering around Plaza Singapura while deciding where to eat was a pain. At last, we settled for Giraffe Restaurant and Bar. Alas, Eddie showed up in a rather too causal outfit of loose berms and slippers. We wondered if they would allow us entry. Guessed it was a false alarm. Or maybe the rest of us had just enough ‘glam’ to spare to Eddie (poor kor).

They led us up to the second level, a round table large enough to accommodate us. However, Amber clamoured requested to sit outside. The rest of us followed like meek little lambs. It was a wise decision for once, no rain and constant light breeze kept us in good temper despite losing the air condition.

Giraffe Restaurant and Bar  Garlicky Chicken

The choices of food were rather limited, but the drinks menu overwhelmed me. I made a safe choice of Garlicky Chicken. The sweet, sour and a slight tinge of spice sauce was delicious and seemed to be attracting someflyone to my plate.

Food ranges from $15 to $20++. And I think mine was probably the most filling without being too sickening, and gives the most value. :P

The mushroom soup was pretty swell too.

Sea Breeze

After the meal, I had a glass of cocktail – Sea Breeze. Being new to the scene of alcohol, I was rather disappointed when it arrived RED instead of the pretty bluish greenish colour that I had imagined it to be. So big was my dismay that I exclaimed out loud, surprising the waiter. XD

Red… not that I’m against the sparkling colour. It is just not the right colour especially after a movie like Sweeney Todd. Sea Breeze – vodka with cranberry juice and grapefruit juice, leaves a tangy aftertaste. A couple of nice friends sampled and told me that it tasted like cough syrup or some other kind of medicine.

Thank you guys, I have a glass of cough syrup to finish.

Next time I will try Hula Hoop! I wonder how they came up with such weird names and the colours just don’t seemed to be the ones I have in mind.

Descriptions of Dishes
1. Tiger Beer. It’s a beer, need I say more? Oh right, the slogan. “What time is it? It’s Tiger time!”
2. Century eggs with young pickled ginger in the middle. That red thing is a tomato.
3. Shanghai Nian Gao/Rice cake. Not your typical brown nian gao. Cooked with prawns, mushroom, lean meat, cabbage and some other ingredients which I’m too lazy to find out. This serves as our main dish.
4. Zhu du tang/Pig Stomach Soup. Be sure to wash the stomach clean and add some cabbage and pepper seeds!
5. Abalone. With some veggies at the bottom and a chili served as garnish. My little cousin usually helps himself to this the most.
6. Smoked meat. To be dip with chinese wine. The older generation in my family loves it. I seemed to enjoy snacking on it too. Does that make me old too? D:
Sorry, I forgot what the other two dishes are.
And yeah, they’re my family’s typical CNY dishes.
